About Qingdao University of Science & Technology
Founded in September, 1950, Qingdao University of Science and Technology (QUST) is located in the scenic coastal city of Qingdao known as the “Eastern Switzerland”. It was formerly known as Qingdao Institute of Chemical Technology and got its present name in March, 2002 with the approval of the Education Ministry of China. QUST, a key university of Shandong Province, is a multi-disciplinary university which focuses on engineering, coordinately develops with science, engineering, art, economic, management, medicine and law, and distinguishes itself by material science, chemical engineering, applied chemistry, mechanical engineering, automation and information technology and computer science.
QUST has three campuses, Sifang Campus (370,000 sq. m., in Sifang District), Laoshan Campus (1,335,000 sq. m., in Old Stone Man National Tourist Resort) and Gaomi Campus (530,000 sq. m., in the city of Gaomi, Shandong Province). There are 1645 faculty members, 740 of whom hold professorship; and 30,000 students, about 3000 of them being postgraduates or PhD students. The University has 4 postdoctoral research stations offering 21 doctoral degree, 122 master’s degree and 68 bachelor’s degree programs. It plays a key role in such fields as Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Information and Controlling Engineering in China.
QUST develops rapidly in cooperation and exchange with foreign institutions. It has established cooperation relations with 64 universities of 16 countries. The Chinesisch-Deutsche Technische Fakultät (Sino-German Technical College) found by QUST and University of Paderborn, Germany has been included into the cooperation between the governments of China and Germany, and is honored as the model of joint-education cooperation.
Additionally, QUST actively develops cooperation with a number of well-known international companies such as LANXESS and ALPS, and sets joint-laboratory, international engineer training center, post-undergraduate station, and university student business start-up center. In recent years, the number of graduates working in international companies is getting increased year by year.
QUST recruits long-term and short-term students from a number of countries such as Korea, America, Germany, Vietnam, Pakistan, India, Indonesia and Japan every year. We welcome more international students to study with us and experience the university’s culture and spirit.
